“A Grand Night of Magic,” to take place Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Palace Hotel San Francisco

San Francisco, Calif., January 29, 2015—Raphael House, San Francisco’s oldest and only privately funded shelter and services program dedicated to transitioning families beyond homelessness, announced today that its 18th Annual One Home, Many Hearts Gala will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the historic (four-diamond) Palace Hotel in downtown San Francisco. Gala co-chairs Melissa Koerner and Laura Larsen expect this highly anticipated black-tie affair to nearly double in size to 600 guests this year, becoming Raphael House’s largest gala to date. A vintage magic theme will enlighten the night’s experience with a champagne reception, silent and live auction, hosted wine and spirits bar, plated dinner, dancing, and a memorable program. Liam Mayclem, EMMY award-winning broadcast personality and KCBS Foodie Chap, will host the event alongside auctioneer Abra Sills, who will auction off once-in-a-lifetime experiences, vacations and dinners to raise funds for Raphael House. The Gala’s headliner, famed magician and illusionist Patrick Martin, will entertain guests by blending humor, visual mystery and audience participation to create a magically enchanted evening. Martin has entertained at the White House, at the Olympic Arts Festival, for top Fortune 500 corporations, and on television specials. Famed illusionists David Copperfield, Siegfried and Roy, Chris Angel and David Blaine have consulted with him in developing magic for television specials. “Recently, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that 537,000 children in California currently are homeless; it is surprising to realize that 2,100 of them attend San Francisco public schools,” said Raphael House Board Chair Kate Smith. “To address this enormous problem, Raphael House works directly with families experiencing homelessness by providing them the resources and support they need to move themselves beyond the cycle of poverty, through a dignified and family-centered process. Our One Home, Many Hearts Gala provides an opportunity to raise funds for this essential cause. With the generous support from our corporate sponsors, esteemed guests and community leaders, it is always humbling to realize how many people are truly touched by the mission of Raphael House.” Proceeds from the Gala support Raphael House’s mission by contributing directly to the organization’s operating budget. As Raphael House expands its facilities and programs through its current growth campaign—to increase the number of families it serves by 67 percent, by 2017—the Gala plays a crucial role in building awareness in the community, while also providing a celebratory atmosphere in which to give back to families in need. The One Home, Many Hearts Gala is made possible by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the premier sponsor of the event. Additional sponsors include: Advantest, Bell Investment Advisors, British-American Business Council, Genesys, R3 Builders, Union Square Advisors, Vinyl Interactive, and White & Case LLP. Tickets to the One Home Many Hearts Gala are $300 per person or $3,000 per table. Corporate sponsorship packages start at $5,000.
