On Friday, March 20th we cut the ribbon in commemoration of the completion of the expansion of the 3rd floor of our Residential Shelter. Joining the festivities were Supervisor Julie Christensen, the City’s Director of Housing Opportunity, Partnership, and Engagement Bevan Dufty, former executive directors Fr. David Lowell and Amanda Heier, and several Raphael House donors, Board members, former residents, and other friends.
The expansion, which marks the completion of phase one of our Foundations for Families Campaign, will increase the number of families we are able to serve in our Residential Shelter Program each year from 60 to 80. Thanks to the generosity of our donors who have contributed so far, we are two-thirds of the way toward reaching our $3 million goal for the Foundations for Families Campaign, which will expand the total capacity of our Residential Shelter and Bridge programs by 67%, increasing the number of families we will be able to serve each year from 300 to 500, by 2017.
We are grateful to Jane on Larkin for providing delicious treats for our Ribbon Cutting ceremony and to the following in-kind donors and volunteer groups for helping to get the shelter rooms and community spaces ready for families and prepare for the event: 20/20 Productions, British-American Business Council, Calvary Presbyterian Church, Emily Hagopian Photography, LoopUP, MACK, and Moyers Paint Company.
