Raphael House Launches Aggressive Expansion to Address Growing Crisis of Family Homelessness

San Francisco, March 6, 2015—Raphael House, San Francisco’s oldest and only 100% privately funded shelter and services program dedicated to transitioning families beyond homelessness, has announced plans for the Foundations for Families Campaign, a $3 million, three-year growth initiative, that will expand the total capacity of its Residential Shelter Program and community-based Bridge Program by 67%, increasing the number of families the organization is able to serve each year from 300 to 500, by 2017.

Raphael House Dedicates Children’s Library to Fr. David and Elaine Lowell

Fr. David and Elaine delighted staff and friends by sharing some of  their history at Raphael House, which included showing us the room where they lived when they were first married!


Friends old and new came together recently when the Raphael House community paid tribute to former Raphael House Executive Director Father David Lowell and and his wife Elaine at a dedication for our new children’s library.

Mom and Daughter Enjoy a Night at the Ball Game Thanks to Aramark!


We caught up recently with Nicole, one of our moms, and her teen daughter Sade. They told us this past fall they enjoyed their first ever baseball game, thanks to our generous friends at Aramark, who donated Giants tickets to Raphael House families. Both mom and daughter are HUGE San Francisco sports fans.

“My daughter and I had the best time ever at the SF Giants game,” said Nicole. “We even got to see Willie Mays one of the greatest players of all time- Yes! The seats were awesome!
